Missed Abortion Options
Missed Abortion
If you find yourself pregnant but are passed the point where a termination is a viable option, then you must consider all other options available to you. Many individuals find themselves in a situation where their missed abortion has phenomenally changed their life. Often, these individuals find not having a termination was a blessing in disguise, as their son or daughter has been a gracious addition to the life. Regardless of your situation, termination is not the only answer to begin with, and if you have gone past the gestation time encompassed by most procedures, begin to research the other options available to you.
Since you have a missed termination, there is no other choice than to have the child. This depends on your specific situation, as the Partial Birth Abortion Ban of 2003 left certain circumstances where an abortion may be performed. These circumstances include when the mother’s health is put significantly at risk by carrying or having a child, the child has died while still inside the womb and needs to be evacuated before the mother develops an infection and falls ill, or if the child is severely disfigured and will die shortly after birth. These tragic situations allow the mother to seek a legal termination even after she has passed the specific gestation period. If you do not fall into one of these situations, consider the ability you have to care for a child after the birth.
Many individuals—especially teens—find themselves unable to provide for a child at this stage in their life. Perhaps you are in school and do not wish to drop out in order to care for a child full time. Perhaps you do not have the necessary resources to successfully provide for a child on your current salary and you will not be able to find better employment due to the schedule crunch of maternity leave and being with the child. Whatever your reasons, seek help from friends, family members, neighbors, or coworkers. If you have no support system, you may want to put you child up for adoption. There are numerous families out there who would cherish a child and provide him or her with the best opportunities possible.
