Acne Products! they are everywhere? . You see them on the TV, all vying for your money. The problem is that it that advertisements are there to get you to buy their products, but to not tell you if you actually need them.

The truth is that the products contain different ingredients that are suitable for different types of this condition.
Commercials tell you one thing, but it is important to know which products will work for your problem.

The goal is to get rid of your acne, not to spend a lot of money on products that won't clear up your condition. So, let's look at some of the ingredients in the products and see what they are good for.

One of the main ingredients in most of these products is benzoyl peroxide. If your problem consists of blackheads and whiteheads, then products with benzoyl peroxide in them are your best bet. Benzoyl peroxide gets rid of dead skin cells that cause blackheads and whiteheads.

If you have sensitive skin or blemishes on your skin, then you should get products that contain salicylic acid. Clogged pores are what cause blemishes on the skin and salicylic acid works to unclog those pores. If you have a more severe affliction, then you probably have to go with prescription products. There are both oral and topical (goes on the skin) prescription products on the market. Your choice of prescription products, however, will be limited to what your dermatologist determines is the right product for your condition.
Prescription acne products include: * Birth control pills (hormone therapy) * Antibiotics (commonly: tetracycline, minocycline, clindamycin and erythromycin) * Isotretinoin (Accutane) You should choose carefully which products are right for you. If you have blackheads and whiteheads, look for products that contain benzoyl peroxide. For blemishes, look for products that contain salicylic acid. If you have a moderate to severe condition, it is best to consult a dermatologist to determine which prescription products are right for you.
