Nasal Spray Addiction Not Just for Common Colds
Nasal spray addiction is becoming an increasing problem for millions of people throughout the United States. In fact, many professionals believe it is as powerful as morphine addiction. Many people who develop this problem first used a nasal spray in an attempt to manage sinus problems, only to later find themselves suffering from nasal spray dependence.
Because of the fairly high incidence of nasal spray abuse resulting from its use for medical purposes, many doctors recommend their patients use a saline spray or other all-natural remedies instead of chemical sprays to treat sinus problems. Unfortunately, saline solutions are not as effective as chemical sprays. Thus, begins the vicious cycle of nasal spray dependence.
Within this cycle, the person uses the nasal spray to alleviate sinus problems. Due to the nasal spray dependence, the person uses more nasal spray than what is recommended in attempt to reduce the effects of sinus problems. These excess doses of nasal spray, however, actually cause an increase in sinus problems. Consequently, the person uses more spray to help with the new symptoms, thus further irritating the sinuses.
The most often used forms of nasal sprays used by people include the ingredients phenylephrine, oxymetazoline, and xylometazoline. Using these chemicals repeatedly, however, actually damages nasal passage membranes and can result in repeated nosebleeds. This results in more sinus irritability, which prompts the person to use more of the nasal spray, further damaging the sinus membranes.
Nasal spray abuse can also cause excessive headaches and congestion. Long term effects of nasal spray addiction include liver damage and damage to other vital organs.
Many people suffering from this affliction have been able to overcome it through the use of hot pepper nasal sprays. This all-natural spray helps the person suffering overcome the dependence. Better yet, hot pepper nasal sprays also help alleviate the sinus problems of the person. For these reasons, doctors worldwide recommend the use of all-natural nasal sprays to help overcome nasal spray abuse and to alleviate sinus problems.
