Arginine for High Blood Pressure
Arginine for Blood Pressure
Arginine is an amino acid that retards the growth of carcinogenous tissue and cells and an effective immuno booster. It decreases the size and activity of the thymus gland, which manufactures T lymphocytes (T cells). Arginine regulates nitric oxide in the blood, which controls flow, immune function, communication among nerve cells, liver function, clotting, and even sexual arousal.
Arginine more than any other amino acid, is credited with effective cholesterol control properties. Controlled doses of Arginine on a daily basis have lowered the dangerous LDL cholesterol without reducing the beneficial HDL cholesterol and most importantly, without any side effects. It also promotes healthy blood flow in the micro level preventing the formation of clots which is one of the primary reasons for heart attacks or strokes.
Administration of L-arginine by intravenous infusion or through oral absorption has shown to induce peripheral vasodilation in humans, and to improve endothelium-dependent vasodilation. Nitric oxide in the blood is the key in allowing vessels to dilate, thus controlling high pressure. Flow is smoothened and uninterrupted along these vessels. Injections of the amino acid can strengthen the cardiac muscle in people with congestive heart failure.
Arginine has been linked to the release of the Human Growth Hormones, greater muscle mass, rapid healing from injury, increased sexual potency, and helping to reverse the process of atherosclerosis. Amino acid therapies have been used successfully to prevent aging, prevent heart disease, enhance memory, eliminate depression, control stress, improve sleep, relieve arthritis, reduce herpes, arrest alcoholism, manage allergies, and promote hair growth.
Arginine is one of the 20 most common natural amino acids found. In non-hepatic tissues, arginine can be biosynthesized by the ornithine cycle. Even so, arginine is often classed as among the 10 most essential amino acids. This need evidently is restricted to children. Arginine is found in nuts, popcorn, carob, gelatin, chocolate, brown rice, oatmeal, raisins, sunflower and sesame seeds, whole wheat bread and all protein-rich foods.
