High Blood Pressure Chart
A high blood pressure chart is a ready reckoner and reference for the patient and the doctor to be used for treatments and related preventive steps. The charts can either be prepared manually or using certain devices which can automatically keep a daily tab.
Even as a chart is being prepared and maintained it is essential that the patient be aware of certain basic facts regarding the normal, elevated and low recordings of blood pressure. Since a patient can experience both high pressure or hypertension and low pressure or hypotension, the readings which denote these conditions should be known.
A control chart which indicates the normal readings with the age and sex indicators would be perfect. This is for cross reference. Normal values of systolic over diastolic in an adult is 130/85 and a reading which shows 140/85-89 is considered normal high. There is however two important aspects when the normalcy of a reading is to be considered. Age and sex.
If the chart has to be maintained with a degree of accuracy, cross checking with the doctor regarding the methods employed by the patient in maintaining the chart will be of use. Readings may vary due to various reasons. Temporary elevated readings may be due to momentary stress, medications, or anxiety factors at that time.
Maintaining a chart will enable the patient to know for himself the degree of variation in his blood pressure over a period of time. Any reading which crosses or falls below the normal readings indicated should be brought to the attention of the doctor. He would then advise the best manner possible for the patient to fight off any indications of hyper or hypotension.
Using a wide range of easy to operate pressure monitors and the additional information from a professional regarding the different normal readings with regard to your age and sex would make your chart even more effective. Remember that simple steps like these goes a long way in preventing the silent killer which stalks a majority of people the world over, regardless of age, sex or location.
