Breast cancer chemotherapy: the best way to treat

Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment taken orally or by the means of injection in the veins to cure the disease. It is done so that blood acts as a means of a carrier that reaches out to all the parts of the body.

The treatment of chemotherapy is very intense and it is very difficult to regain the strength after the treatment. Hence there is a specific procedure that has to be followed. The treatment is not continuous there is a pattern of cycles that is followed that includes the period of recovery and response.

It is generally a course of 6 months but there is a slight risk of the reoccurrence of the problem. The treatment is given according to the intensity of the problem. The duration differs from person to person and the response and recovery of the person. Even if the cancer is detected at an early stage then also the treatment must be followed.

Treatment and surgery: There is a use of the cytotoxic drugs that serve the purpose of destroying the infected cells. The main purpose of this drug is to control the growth of the diseased cells and to destroy them. But the only problem with this treatment is that even the healthy cells are destroyed in that process.

The therapy begins before the beginning of the operation and the main purpose of that is the reduction of the tumor. This can be a plus point while performing the operation that only the affected area can be removed. It is also beneficial as there is a positive point that there are very less chances for the reoccurrence of the illness.

The treatment of chemotherapy is continued after the illness to eliminate all the negative possibilities. This is done mainly to avoid the risk if the doctor thinks that the disease has spread more or the infected cells are spreads in other parts of the body. The treatment is even helpful when the females still have the menstrual cycle. It helps in the stimulation control of the cells.

Avoiding the reoccurrence of the illness: Even after the treatment there are chances that the disease can return. The return of the disease is called secondary and if the phenomenon occurs with the same breast then it is called as the local recurrence. But secondary breast cancer can be kept under control with the right line of treatment. But this reoccurrence is not a very common phenomenon. In this way chemotherapy is a perfect form of treatment.
