Prostate cancer may not have noticeable symptoms,
Advanced prostate cancer
Just as this disease attacks the breast in women, it attacks the prostate in men. But men underestimate this risk. The prostate gland has a significant role in man's reproductive system which helps make semen less viscous so it can easily bring sperm through the penis during ejaculation. It has walnut-shape that lies just below a man's bladder. It’s located just beneath the bladder, where urine is stored. If the tumor hasn’t spread across the prostate it is still curable, but, if it has advanced beyond that then sadly there is no cure available. About half of men above 50 run risk of prostate cancer and about half to three-quarters of men have some cancerous changes in prostate glands at 75. But not all of them actually die. Advanced prostate cancer is the one that has grown through the prostate capsule and may extend into the glands that help produce semen.
This illness may not have noticeable symptoms, but at times some signs can be taken into consideration:
• Waking frequently to urinate at night.
• Having difficulty/pain during urination.
• Blood seen in urine or semen.
• Stiffness or pain in the lower back, upper thighs, or hips.
It is usually diagnosed through physical exams and tests, including a digital rectal exam, prostate-specific antigen test, and transrectal ultrasound i.e. guided biopsy. It may be treated with radiation therapy, surgery to remove the prostate, hormone therapy, or surgery to relieve symptoms.
The chances of fatality from this disease depend on: • Overall health.
• The age when diagnosed.
• The ethnicity. Black men are more likely to die from this illness than are white men.
• The stage and grade of the cancer.
Higher grade tumours are usually fast-growing and are more likely to reappear after treatment and/or to spread to other parts of the body. The grade and stage of condition affects the treatment and whether it’s curable. It can’t be cured if it has grown outside the prostate gland. However, treatment may slow disease progression.
Patients experiences a wide variety of emotions after diagnosis. Most men experience some denial, anger, and grief. There isn’t a "normal" or "right" way to react to a diagnosis. To have a helping hand with your emotional status at this stage talking it out with your family and friends is a blessing. In the same way some may find being left alone is what they need. The illness and its treatment may cause nausea, pain, or other side effects.
Certain home made treatments can come in handy such as when you have nausea, wait for 1 hour after vomiting has stopped and then sip a re-hydration drink to restore nutrients and lost fluids. Intake of lot pf fluids will rid you of constipation and diarrhea. Pain necessarily needn’t be a part of treatment for prostate cancer.
