Cabbage diet is definitely the ‘in’ thing. A dark green leafy cabbage is high source of vitamin C as well as iron, which makes it a more than perfect food for anyone having anemia or even for pregnant women. It has potassium and beta-carotene. Being a member of brassica family, it consists of phyto-chemicals like glucosinolates which are known to reduce (especially) lung cancer.
The Cabbage Plan actually involves ‘cabbage soup’ which has dubious fat burning properties. It’s been proved to be a ‘quick fix’ for extra pounds.
The regimen contours on strange food combos that force you to nearly starve every day. Keeping this under consideration the Cabbage soup diet is totally unrealistic and risky for an over weight person looking for permanent loss of calories. The cabbage soup can be eaten any time you feel like, and that too without quantity limitations.
The Cabbage Soup plan is immensely strict. It needs intake of certain additional foods on each day of the seven day plan. Alcohol is prohibited and other drinks are restricted to water, and unsweetened fruit juice.
Day 1 - Cabbage soup + as much fruit as you want, except bananas.
Day 2 - Cabbage soup + vegetables with 1 jacket potato and little butter.
Day 3 - Cabbage soup + fruit and vegetables, potatoes and bananas excluded.
Day 4 - Cabbage soup + up to eight bananas and any amount of skimmed milk.
Day 5 - Cabbage soup + up to six tomatoes and up to 20 ounces of beef.
Day 6 - Cabbage soup + as much beef and vegetables (no potatoes)
