All About the Eye

The eye is a ball shaped muscular organ in a little hollow area the socket in the skull in the front part is protected by the lid. The main function of the lid is to keep the ball clean and moist by opening and shutting several times a minute. The lid is muscle skin that protects and it also has great reflexes, which are automatic body responses, which protect the eye. It is one of the most complicated organs to study because it has a lot of parts working together to give a complete vision like lens, cornea, retina, and other parts. Light first passes through a cornea, which refracts the light and then passes through a lens, which refracts the light further, so that it forms a focused image on the retina.

Parts of:

The Cornea is a part that is exposed to light and the surrounding and it is a clear white thing over the outside of the eye that helps focus like a lens on a camera.

The Iris is that part that has color and as it gets bigger and smaller to let in different amounts of light.

The Pupil is a Black opening in the middle and light comes through this opening.

The aqueous humor is clear watery stuff that keeps the eye clean and it also provides nutrition.

A lens is the organ that bends light and it also helps you see close up and far away things.

The retina has nerve cells called rod cells and cone shaped cells those are at the back of your eye.

Chamber:

Between the iris and cornea is the anterior chamber and this chamber is filled with a special transparent fluid that gives the organ oxygen, protein, and glucose which is a type of sugar in the body so that it is kept healthy. It is seen that the pupils will get smaller when the light shines near them and they'll open wider when the light is gone.
