Avoid Excessive Consumption of Alcohol to Improve Fertility

Fertility problems that plagues many couples around the world. Infertility is a problem that afflicts millions of couples globally each year. This used to be an issue that would only be discussed behind closed doors. For this reason many couples who experienced problems with their fertility never came out in the open to discuss their problems. Hence they could not seek adequate medical treatment and take advantage of the latest remedies to tide over their infertility.

There can be various causes for not being able to concieve. These can be inadequate consumption of nutrients, consumption of drugs, etc. However a leading cause has been identified as the excessive consumption of alcohol.

It has been conclusively determined that excessive consumption of alcohol over a period of time can possibly hinder fertility, it has not been proved to the same degree of certainty that moderate consumption of alcohol also has a bearing on the the concerned individuals ability to concieve. Hence medical authorities prescribe precaution as an advisory measure and ask couples undergoing treatment to avoid any consumption of alcohol.

Specific clinical research carried out suggests that a women who consumes an average of two drinks a day may find it much harder to conceive than other women who do not consume alcohol. There is no doubt that increased quantities of alcohol impair the chances of a couple conceiving a child, as it has been proved that excessive consumption of alcohol reduces desire and impairs sexual functioning.

Alcohol abuse and alcoholism are traditionally associated with hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian dysfunction resulting in amenorrhea. Excessive alcohol will not only have a role to play in infertility, but it can also be very dangerous for your unborn baby. It can also result in miscarriages, stillbirths, and other complications that can have some serious adverse effects on the life of their unborn baby.

Excessive alcohol consumption can therefore have adverse effects on the fertility of a couple and thus the man as well as the woman experiencing problems concieving must avoid excess consumption of alcohol.
