As tibolone does not stimulate endometrial tissue at any site, it is more useful for patients with a past history of endometriosis

Does tibolone have any symptoms?
Tibolone isn’t prescribed in cases where there is a hormone dependant tumour such as breast cancer, a history of heart attacks, liver disorders, strokes and in vaginal bleeding without any specific cause.

Also special care needs to be taken in relation to patients with kidney diseases, epilepsy, migraine, diabetes or high cholesterol levels.

Also, tibolone could also interact with few other drugs like anti-coagulants and some anti-TB and anti-epileptic drugs.

Generally users do not experience any problems when taking HRT tibolone but it has some mild androgenic properties, which may cause greasy skin or even extra hair growth. Breast tenderness, which is a common symptom in normal treatment, is rare when on tibolone.

The need to be monitored during tibolone treatment –
Once they start the therapy, women should be seen and reviewed after three monthes and later once a year if they are settled on a product. The reviewing procedure varies and there is no one criteria for this purpose.
