Pregnancy Yoga - For a Fitter Pregnancy
Pregnancy Yoga
If it isn't something that you have tried before, yoga is definitely something you
should consider during expectancy. Although you will find it easier to start learning
the basic principles before expecting, yoga is something you
can begin once your pregnancy has been confirmed.
For the uninitiated, yoga may sound like something that needs a great deal
of skill and agility to master. However, once you get started you will see that there
are people of all kinds of fitness abilities who follow this form of exercise. You
might even find that there are regular classes held that are especially designed for
expectant women.
Yoga is an exercise that not only aims to produce a fitter body, but also a fitter mind.
Yoga is therefore not only going to help to get your body in shape ready for
the birth of the baby, but will also help you to focus whilst delivering the baby into
the world. If you are planning on having as natural a childbirth as possible, then the
breathing exercises you learn during your yoga class will be of great value to you.
The muscle areas which pregnancy yoga concentrates on will enable you to feel fitter
during expectancy. The specific areas of interest to the expectant women are strengthening
the muscles in the spine so that it can better support the weight of the baby growing in
the woman's stomach, the stomach muscles themselves which provide the support
system for the baby, and the pelvic muscles which will help push the baby out.
Through meditation techniques learned in yoga, the mother-to-be will learn
how to become calm, and to concentrate on real issues, rather than worry about things
that might be. She will learn breathing techniques and visualization exercises which
will help when she is feeling stressed - this will be especially useful if she is
concerned about the actual birth.
Yoga is a form of exercise which can help a expectant woman become more
in control of mind, body and spirit, and offers a less aerobic way of keeping in shape.
